What is membership?

At KBC we provide the opportunity for formal membership and encourage people who are committed to our church to consider membership for the following reasons:

  1. Biblical: Christ is committed to the church.
  2. Cultural: to be collective salt and light to our community.
  3. Personal: it provides spiritual growth.

Becoming a member

The KBC Constitution states:

A person, who is born again of the Holy Spirit, baptised by immersion as a believer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and who gives evidence of their faith in daily life, is eligible to become a member. However, a person who for reasons of physical incapacity cannot be baptised by immersion but is committed to the principle of believer’s baptism, is willing to be baptised, and otherwise qualifies, shall also be eligible to become a member

Our Constitution also contains a Statement of our Objectives and Statement of Faith. You must be able to support these two items wholeheartedly to qualify as a member of KBC.

Step 1 - Christian Faith

Are you a follower of Jesus and understand what it is to have a personal relationship with God? This is the most important aspect identifying you as a potential member of KBC.

Step 2 - Baptism

If you have already been baptised as a believer then full membership is open to you. If you would like to be baptised, then please talk with our Pastor or a Deacon to make arrangements. If you have not been baptised as a believer and do not feel led to so at this time, then you will have to hold off on being a member until you have been baptised.

Step 3 - Constitution

Approach your Life Group Leader, Pastor or Deacon to become a member. A copy of our constitution will be given to you at this point.

Step 4 - Interview

An interview with two members, appointed by the Pastor or Diaconate. You will be encouraged to share your faith journey, including your testimony and about your baptism and why you would like to be a member of KBC.

Step 5 - Vote

Church Meeting Members Vote. Members meetings are held every quarter and two weeks notice will be given of your upcoming nomination for membership. You will be asked to leave the room during the vote and then will be welcomed back upon acceptance of your membership by the members after the vote.
